UKAME launches three-tier Awaab's Law and HHSRS training
12 June 2026
UKAME, the training and membership provider for damp and mould professionals, has launched a new three-tier Awaab's Law and HHSRS training programme for housing teams. The programme is built around the new compliance regime and covers everyone in the chain: front-line officers, surveyors and contractors, and senior leaders.
The first public cohort runs in July 2026: Tier 2 (Practitioner) on Thursday 9 July 2026, delivered live online via Zoom and limited to 20 delegates per session. Tier 1 (Awareness) runs as private cohorts for whole teams, with a register-interest list for the next public date.
Why now: Awaab's Law is already in force
Awaab's Law has been in force since October 2025. Social landlords are legally required to act on damp and mould hazards within strict statutory timescales:
- 10 working days to investigate a reported damp and mould hazard
- 5 working days to complete safety work once a significant hazard is found
- 24 hours to make the home safe in an emergency
Every person who takes a resident's call, inspects a home or signs off the response needs to know their part. New to the legislation? Read our Awaab's Law guide.
Three tiers, three audiences
Tier 1: Awaab's Law Awareness Training
Register interestA one-day live online course for customer-facing and non-technical staff: housing officers, contact-centre and call handlers, tenancy and complaints teams, and anyone speaking to residents about damp and mould. Delegates learn what Awaab's Law requires, the strict timescales, how to hold sensitive conversations with vulnerable residents, and exactly when and how to escalate.
£195 + VAT per person. Tier 1 runs as private online cohorts from £1,950 + VAT for up to 12 delegates, with a register-interest list for the next public date.
Tier 2: Awaab's Law Practitioner Training
Booking open · 9 July 2026A one-day live online course for technical and site-based professionals: building and housing surveyors, damp and mould inspectors, site supervisors, operatives and contractors. The course takes a practical, methodology-based approach to competent investigation, hazard identification under HHSRS, evidence gathering, building pathology, and producing inspection reports that hold up to scrutiny in court.
£295 + VAT per person. First public cohort: Thursday 9 July 2026. Private online cohorts from £2,950 + VAT for up to 12 delegates.
Tier 3: Awaab's Law Leadership Briefing
Private cohortsA bespoke boardroom-level briefing on governance, risk, accountability and reputational management, for board members, directors of housing, executives and governance leads. Tier 3 is delivered as private cohorts only, tailored to your organisation, your tenure stock and your current regulatory standing.
From £2,500 + VAT per half-day for up to 12 senior delegates.
Delivered by an experienced sector practitioner
All three tiers are delivered live by Tristan Hemsley, who brings more than 25 years of experience in property services, disrepair and damp and mould, and is Degree-level CIOB qualified. Tristan has led high performing damp and mould and disrepair services within Local Government and supported housing providers with complex disrepair cases and regulatory scrutiny.
Courses are live and interactive, so delegates can ask questions, take part in discussion and work through real-life case studies and regulatory judgments.
Certificates and the UKAME Directory
Every delegate who completes a course receives a UKAME Certificate of Attendance, included in the seat price. An optional Certificate of Achievement upgrade is available at £39 + VAT: sit and pass the end-of-course test to receive a Certificate of Achievement.
Delegates also receive a listing in the UKAME Directory as a trained Awaab's Law professional, plus a UKAME-trained digital badge for email signatures, intranets, websites, vehicles and reports.
